Take a snapshot or a render
A snapshot is a quick PNG of the 3D view. A render is slower, but it shows real bounced light, soft shadows and reflections. Both are made on your computer and do not use AI credit.
Set up the camera first. See Set up a view.
Take a snapshot#
- Click Scene in the 3D view.
- In the snapshot size list, select a size.
- Click Snapshot.
The sizes are:
| Size | Pixels |
|---|---|
| 1280×720 | 1280 × 720 |
| 1920×1080 | 1920 × 1080 (default) |
| 3840×2160 | 3840 × 2160 |
| viewport | The size of the 3D view on your screen |
| 2× viewport | Two times the size of the 3D view |
The snapshot is in presentation mode: it has no grid, axes, outlines or selection. The browser downloads it as a PNG file. The file name has the project name, the revision and the size, for example Kitchen-rev7-1920x1080.png.
Make a photoreal render#
- Click Scene in the 3D view.
- Click Render…. The Render panel opens.
- Select the image size. The default is 1280×720.
- Select the quality.
- Click Render.
The quality is the number of samples for each pixel: draft (32), good (128, the default), high (512) or final (2048). More samples give a smoother picture, but take more time. A render can take from some seconds to some minutes.
You see the render while it builds. To stop it, click Cancel. When it is done, click Save PNG.
To blur the background, select the item to focus on before you start. Then tick Focus in the Render panel.
A render shows the sun through the windows, the room lights, glass and gloss. To change the light first, see Walk through a room and change the light.
