Make a prop from a photo or a description

AI credit
Copy page ▾

A prop is a 3D object for the picture, for example a tap, a lamp or a vase. An AI engine builds it from simple shapes. Props are visual only: they are never in the cut list. Do not take cut-out sizes from a prop.

You select the engine, and each engine shows an estimated price before you start.

Make a prop#

  1. Click File ▾.
  2. Click Props….
  3. Click + Photo and select 1 to 4 photos of one object. You can also drop or paste the photos.
  4. Type a description in the box. Without photos, the description is necessary.
  5. Select an engine. Each engine shows its estimated price.
  6. Click Make prop. The button also shows the estimated price.

Photos can be JPEG, PNG or WebP. Use photos of different sides of the same object. With photos, use the box to say which object to model, for example "the tap, not the worktop".

Without photos, describe the object, for example "a ribbed ceramic vase, sage green".

Set the real size#

Type the real width, depth and height in the W mm, D mm and H mm boxes. These boxes are optional. If you leave a box empty, KerfCraft keeps the prop in proportion. You can also give the prop a name.

What it costs#

The price on the button is an estimate. You pay what the model actually costs, and the dialog shows that amount after the prop is made. If the request is refused, you do not pay.

KerfCraft refuses photos of people. It does not make 3D models of people.

What to expect#

Props are built from simple shapes. Appliances, sinks, lamps, vases and mugs come out recognisable. Pets and plants come out only roughly. If the prop is not correct, click Try again, select a different engine, or ask the assistant to change it.

Place a prop#

  1. Click File ▾, then Props….
  2. Find the prop in Your props.
  3. Click Place.

Then move the prop with the Move tool. You can use your props in every project. KerfCraft keeps your props library in this browser, for the account that you are signed in with. It does not copy the library to other browsers or computers. To delete a prop from your library, click 🗑 on its card. Copies that you placed in projects stay.

Ask the assistant#

You can also ask the assistant, for example "Make my kitchen tap into a 3D prop" with photos attached. The assistant fills in the Props dialog for you. You select the engine and click Make prop. The assistant cannot spend your credit on a prop.
