Add IKEA-size furniture

KerfCraft can insert units the size of some IKEA® ranges, so you can plan a room round them. They are approximations made from publicly listed dimensions, not from IKEA files. Check your own units.

Where the units go#

If the active level has a room, KerfCraft puts each unit against the back wall of the first room. It goes after the units that are already on that wall. If there is no room, the unit goes on the floor of the level. Move it where you want it.

Insert a PAX-size wardrobe frame#

  1. Click Library… in the toolbar.
  2. Go to PAX-size wardrobe frames.
  3. Select frame or add-on corner unit.
  4. Select the width, depth and height. The sizes are in cm, as IKEA names them.
  5. Select hinged doors or no doors, and the number of shelves.
  6. Select the fittings: drawers, glass-front drawers, shoe shelves, wire baskets, pull-out trays and clothes rails.
  7. Click Insert frame or Insert corner unit.

The fittings are bought-in hardware. They are in the BOM, not in the cut list.

For sliding doors, select the width of the sliding pair and click Insert sliding doors. The doors go in front of the last frames on the back wall. Give those frames no doors.

Insert a METOD-size kitchen cabinet#

  1. Click Library….
  2. Go to METOD-size kitchen cabinets.
  3. Select base cabinet, wall cabinet or high cabinet.
  4. Select the width and the height.
  5. For a base cabinet 80 cm high, select the fronts: doors, drawer over door, 3 drawers or 4 drawers.
  6. Click Insert cabinet.

To lay a worktop across the base cabinets on the back wall, click Add worktop. You must make a room first.

Insert KALLAX-size shelving#

  1. Click Library….
  2. Go to KALLAX-size cube shelving.
  3. Select the number of cubes wide and high, from 1 to 5.
  4. For each cube, select open, drawers, door or divider.
  5. Click Insert shelving.

Insert a BILLY-size bookcase#

  1. Click Library….
  2. Go to BILLY-size bookcases.
  3. Select the width, depth and height.
  4. Select no doors, panel doors or glass doors.
  5. To stack a height extension on top, select + height extension.
  6. Click Insert bookcase.

Check before you rely on them#

Each part of these units shows "needs extra checking" in the cut list, with the reason "Approximated from published IKEA dimensions". Measure the real units before you build round them. Check every dimension against your own measurements before cutting.

KALLAX-size and BILLY-size units are made of carcasses. You can change each carcass from Parameters in the Properties panel. See Build a cabinet, bookcase or wardrobe.
