# Recover or discard a draft

Open autosaved work from an earlier session, or delete a draft that you do not need.

A draft is work that KerfCraft saved automatically, but that you did not save by name. Drafts do not show in **File ▸ Open recent**. KerfCraft does not delete them, so you can recover them later.

When you open KerfCraft and drafts from an earlier session exist, a badge shows next to the **File** menu, for example **2 unsaved drafts**. If the open project is a draft, the toolbar shows only its **Draft** badge.

## Recover a draft

1. Click the **unsaved drafts** badge, or select **File ▸ All projects…**.
2. In **Unsaved drafts**, find the draft. Each row shows the name and when you last changed it.
3. Click **Recover** (the open button) on the row of the draft.
4. Press Ctrl+S (⌘S on a Mac) to save the draft by name.

If you do not save it by name, the recovered work stays a draft.

## Discard a draft

1. Select **File ▸ All projects…**.
2. In **Unsaved drafts**, click **Discard** on the row of the draft.
3. Click **OK** to confirm.

KerfCraft deletes a discarded draft permanently. You cannot undo this.

To hide the drafts badge without opening the list, click **✕** next to it.
