# Open, rename, duplicate or delete a project

Find a saved project and open, rename, copy or delete it from File ▸ All projects.

Saved projects are in **File ▸ All projects…**. The ten most recent saved projects are also in **File ▸ Open recent**.

## Open a project

1. Select **File ▸ Open recent**.
2. Select the project.

If the project is not in the list, use **All projects**:

1. Select **File ▸ All projects…**.
2. To find a project, type part of its name or its type in **Search projects**.
3. To change the order, select **Last modified**, **Name** or **Type** in the sort list.
4. Click **Open** on the row of the project.

KerfCraft saves the open design before it opens the next one. In the list, the open project shows **(open)** after its name.

Each project opens in the isometric 3D view, with nothing selected. The **Scene** bar, the **Render** panel and **Compare** of the last project close. This also applies to a new project, a sample and a .kerf file. **File ▸ Save as…** continues on the same design, so the view and the panels stay. The side panels, the assistant panel and your settings do not change.

## Rename a project

1. Select **File ▸ All projects…**.
2. Click **Rename** on the row of the project.
3. Type the new name.
4. Click **OK**.

To rename the open project, you can also edit **Project** in the **Properties** panel when nothing is selected.

## Duplicate a project

1. Select **File ▸ All projects…**.
2. Click **More actions** on the row of the project.
3. Select **Duplicate**.

The copy has the same name with "(copy)" at the end. It starts with an empty assistant conversation.

## Delete a project

1. Select **File ▸ All projects…**.
2. Click **More actions** on the row of the project.
3. Select **Delete…**.
4. Click **OK** to confirm.

KerfCraft deletes the project and its assistant conversation permanently. You cannot undo this. If you delete the open project, a new empty project opens.

To keep a copy before you delete a project, select **Export .kerf…** in the same menu. See [Save and open a .kerf file](/docs/how-to/projects/save-and-open-a-kerf-file/).
