# Walk through a room and change the light

Walk through a room at eye level, change the daylight and add ceiling lights.

The scene bar has the controls for a walkthrough, the daylight and the lights. To open it, click **Scene** in the 3D view. The **Walk** and **+ Light** buttons show only when the project has a room.

## Walk through a room

1. Click **Scene** in the 3D view.
2. Click **Walk**.

You start inside the first door, and you look into the room. If the room has no door, you start at the wall farthest from the furniture, and you look at the furniture. In an empty room with no door, you start at a short wall and look along the room. You can also double-click a floor to start the walk at that point.

| To | Do this |
| --- | --- |
| Walk | Press **W**, **A**, **S** and **D**, or the arrow keys |
| Look around | Drag, or click and move the mouse |
| Stop the walk | Press **Esc**, or click **Walk** again |

While you walk, a bar in the view sets the **eye** height (default 1600 mm) and the walking **speed** (default 1200 mm/s). You cannot walk out of the room.

## Change the daylight

1. Click **Scene** in the 3D view.
2. In the daylight list, select **morning**, **noon**, **evening** or **overcast**.

The default is **noon**. Morning has a low warm sun from the north-east, and evening a low orange sun from the north-west. Overcast gives soft light with almost no sun.

The sun shines in through the windows when shadows are on and x-ray is off. Presentation mode turns shadows on. To turn shadows on alone, click **⋯** in the 3D view, then click **Shadows**.

## Add a light

1. Click **Scene** in the 3D view.
2. Click **+ Light**.

KerfCraft adds a ceiling light at the centre of the room. To move it, use the **Move** tool.

Select the light to change it in **Properties**:

- **Kind**: **point** lights all around, as a pendant or a bulb. **spot** shines down in a cone.
- **Colour K**: the colour temperature, from 1000 to 10000. 2700 is warm white and 6500 is daylight.
- **Intensity**: the brightness, from 0 to 20. 1 is a typical ceiling lamp.
- **Angle°**: the width of the cone of a spot light.

Only the first two lights cast shadows. Lights are for the picture only. They are not in the cut list.
