# Set up a view

Point the camera with a preset, orbit about a focal point, and save the view with the project.

Set up a view before you take a snapshot, a render or an AI image. A saved view keeps the camera and the look of the scene, so you can go back to it later.

## Use a camera preset

1. Click **Scene** in the 3D view. The scene bar opens.
2. Open the **Camera…** list.
3. Select a preset.

The presets are:

- **floor plan**: a flat view from above.
- **isometric**: an angled view of the room.
- **south-west corner**, **south-east corner**, **north-east corner**, **north-west corner**: eye level from that inside corner, looking across the room.
- **from door**: eye level from the door, looking into the room. There is one item for each door and doorway, with its name.
- **focus selection**: frames the selected items.

The **Camera…** list shows only when the project has a room. For any project, use **View ▾** to look from the front, back, left, right or top, or **⌂** to see the whole design at an angle. See [Move round the 3D view](/docs/how-to/projects/move-round-the-3d-view/).

## Orbit about a focal point

1. Click **⋯** in the 3D view, then click **Focal point**. Or press **Shift+F**.
2. Click a point on the model or the floor.

Now orbit and zoom turn about that point. Walls and ceilings between the camera and the point are cut away. This also applies to snapshots and renders. If items are selected, you can click **at selection** in the banner instead of a point. The focal point then goes to the centre of the selection.

To move the focal point, drag its marker with the **Select** tool. To remove it, click **✕** in the banner. You can also press **Esc** when nothing is selected.

## Use a flat projection

1. Click **⋯** in the 3D view.
2. Click **Perspective / flat**.

A flat view keeps parallel lines parallel, as in a drawing. Click it again to go back to perspective.

## Save a view

1. Click **Scene** in the 3D view.
2. Type a name in the **View name** box.
3. Click **Save view**.

A saved view keeps the camera, the focal point and the projection. It also keeps presentation mode, x-ray, shadows, the daylight, the hidden walls and ceilings, and which doors and drawers are open. If you use a name that you used before, the new view replaces the old one.

Saved views are saved in the project file. They do not change the model.

## Go back to a saved view

1. Click **Scene** in the 3D view.
2. Open the **Views…** list.
3. Select the view.

To delete the selected view, click **✕** next to the list.
