# Export a GLB model for Blender or the web

Export the project as a glTF 2.0 binary file to render it in Blender or show it in a web viewer.

A GLB file is a visual model. It has triangle meshes, names and colours. Use it to render or show a design. Do not use it to manufacture parts.

> **Beta.** Checked with an independent glTF reader, not yet in Blender or other 3D software. Open the file in your software and check it.

## Export the file

1. Select **File ▸ Import / Export…**.
2. On the **Export** tab, select **glTF 2.0 binary (GLB) (.glb)**.
3. Click **Whole project**, or select components first and click **Selection**.
4. Click **Export…**.

The file name has the project name and the revision, for example `Bookcase-rev12.glb`.

## What the file holds

- One named node for each assembly, part, wall and instance.
- Colours, roughness and metalness from the finishes and materials.
- An animation clip that opens each door and drawer. If there are two or more, an **Open all** clip opens all of them.

The file uses metres with Y up, as glTF requires. Blender and three.js read it in these units.

## What the file does not hold

- Wood grain, floor boards, tiles and other patterns. These become flat colours.
- Grain, edge banding, cut sizes, parameters and formulas.
- Hidden components.

The report on the **Export** tab lists what the file loses for your project.
